Can you drive your own husky sled in Tromsø?

Yes, on four of the six products here, from age 16. You share one sled with a partner and swap musher and passenger at the halfway point, so you drive about half the run. No licence is required in Norway; you get a briefing and basic instruction on site. Operators set age, weight and fitness conditions instead, and guides can refuse participation on safety grounds.

The short self-drive product gives you roughly 45 minutes of shared self-driven sledding after a 25-minute transfer, and asks that you can balance on one leg. The flagship and the Tamokdalen day are also self-drive with a partner. The advanced Camp Tamok tour is self-drive and hard: good fitness and strength are required, you must help push the sled uphill, and both partners have to meet the requirement because you swap.
